Offensive Security Wireless Professional (OSWP) Certification Review

I just got my results and want to share my experience with the course and exam for Offensive Security Wireless Attacks PEN-210.

Background

So before getting into wireless hacking, I want to let you know I already had some wireless hacking experience from a while ago when I was getting started with Ethical Hacking, i got complete module about wireless attacks in the eLearnSecurity PTP course “Penetration Testing Professional course.” So preparing for this exam didn’t take me more than a couple of weeks to get into it.

Preparation

Following the course materials provided by Offensive Security, wireless attacks, PEN-210 should be enough for the exam. But here comes the tricky part there are no labs to prepare for this exam. So you do need to practice with your own that you do yourself

For the lab preparation, I bought two hardware devices — A router and Wireless Adapter (With Monitor Mode). I got the Offensive Security recommended router NETGEAR AC1000 (R6080), and I found the Alfa AWUS036NHA wireless adapter, as you see below.

For Wireless Adapter I got TP-Link WL-WN722N v2/3.

Exam

You should check the exam guide offered by Offensive Security, there will be three networks, and you need to grab thash flaglag from two networks to pass the exam. One of these three networks is mandatory. Then you can choose between the remaining two networks.

In the reporting phase, I used the Offical Offensive Security OSWP Report.

Conclusions

I enjoyed the whole course and the exam experience, and I would totally say the course is worth it.

Regarding this exam and labs, you should rely on your own lab to prepare for wireless attacks. Also for the exam.

I learned a lot about Wi-Fi hacking, and you should do your own arsenal of notes ready.

I used the regular command line interface for Kali Linux with opening multiple tabs to handle the wireless attacks.
